a man has said - Jaqen H’ghar
i paused the latest episode on my laptop and used it as reference to paint him because i have a huge man-crush on the character.
about 1.5 hours i think because i am very slow :$
requested from a friend of mine.
i had a tiny reference that was extremely lo-res so had to take some artistic liberties in my interpretation… ended up taking forever because i have been preoccupied with my photography and i have forgotten how to art because i haven’t practised since my last painting!
sigh. i hope she likes it…

just a quick paintover of my friends work in progress because i’m feeling lazy…
the left image was the original that he sent me (hopefully he won’t kill me for posting it up :P) along with the reference
took a little more than 1 hour. image is kind of small, but please view at large size to see the details a bit more clearly.
ugh time to sleep.
practising with the hard round brush again.
no reference.
spent too much time fixing all the errors i made throughout this… can’t be bothered working on it any further, so time to move on…
ugh.
i haven’t rendered with just the hard round brush in such a long time.. i forgot how labour intensive it is to blend..
ugh i need to practise and study more..
i have spent enough time on this referenced study in just trying to make it not look so terrible…
meh.
onto something else.

hello!
just wanted to whore my new tumblr that i’m devoting solely to my photography adventures rather than spamming my main tumblr here… i’m intending to do some portraits of strangers soon, but decided i should really improve and practice more thoroughly before jumping in the deep end..
like my arting, i’m trying to teach myself so it’s simply a place for me to note my thoughts, post all my mistakes in the endless search for some keepers.
anyway, please do have a looksy and comment/critique freely as i will be updating it with not just portraits, but my attempts at street photography from my travels abroad and at home.

it was different having someone watch over my shoulder, but as always i eventually lose myself in the painting…

instead of painting, i wasted all my free time looking at camera lenses and screaming at my shitty internet constantly disconnecting…

anyway, another referenced image… only worked on it for about 1.5 hr because it’s late at night… again.
